KATHY BOLAND Aircraft Transaction and Closing Specialist
Kathy Boland is Aerlex’s Aircraft Transaction and Closing Specialist. She has administered well over 1,000 aircraft transactions during her career and provides a depth of experience in aircraft acquisition and management that makes her a tremendous resource to the Aerlex team. Ms. Boland collaborates with the firm’s attorneys in the direction and supervision of Aerlex’s aircraft transactional practice. She expertly handles aircraft transaction documentation, closings, oversight of aircraft deliveries, financing, lease administration, aviation insurance and international registry issues.
Ms. Boland graduated in 1980 from the California College of Paralegal Studies. Since then, she has worked for a diverse group of aviation-related companies, including Hughes Aircraft Company, The Flying Tiger Line Inc. and International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC). In these positions, Ms. Boland was responsible for a wide variety of aviation matters, both domestic and international, from lease administration to commercial and private aircraft sales and purchases. At Flying Tigers, Ms. Boland was the company’s sole paralegal, reporting directly to the General Counsel. There she handled a broad range of commercial airline concerns including regulatory issues, noise abatement compliance, cargo claims, general litigation and employment-related matters. During her tenure at ILFC, she supervised aircraft sales, purchases and leases, insurance compliance, financial reconciliations, overhaul and maintenance reserves, and the coordination of sales jurisdictions for airframes and engines to minimize tax exposure.
In addition, she was the ILFC representative during multi-million dollar deliveries of new aircraft at The Boeing Company and Airbus Industrie. Ms. Boland joined Aerlex in 2007, bringing her unique and irreplaceable expertise to the firm.
ROBERT FROST Aviation Certification and Compliance Consultant
Bob Frost has worn many hats during his 45 years in business aviation: chief pilot for an airline, corporate president, FAA aviation safety inspector, Part 121 and 135 director of operations, and flight instructor, just to name a few.
As Aerlex Law Group’s Aviation Certification and Compliance Consultant, Mr. Frost utilizes that wealth of experience and knowledge of technical aviation issues on behalf of the firm’s clients. He provides unparalleled guidance in many diverse areas, including pre-purchase advice and document review, technical analysis of aircraft specifications, assessment of Part 135 and corporate flight department operations, and assistance with FAR violations.
Mr. Frost holds Air Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor, Airplane and Instrument, FAA certifications. He has flown more than 16,800 hours as both a commercial and corporate pilot, including three years as chief pilot for Hawaii Pacific Airlines, a 121 carrier. Prior to joining Aerlex, he served as Director of Operations for Trans-Exec Air Service, a Part 135 Gulfstream jet charter company based in Santa Monica and Van Nuys. Before that, he spent four years as an aviation safety inspector for the FAA in Los Angeles. He currently serves as president of RAF Leasing Inc., a company that leases aircraft and support equipment to air carriers; he previously served as president of Holiday Airways, Inc. and Resort Commuter Airlines/TWA Express. Mr. Frost is an FAA Safety Counselor. He is active on the boards of a number of professional associations and private companies, including the NATA Advisory Board.
SUSAN OROZCO-NEU Paralegal
As a Paralegal at Aerlex Law Group, Susan Orozco-Neu plays an important role, generating and organizing the voluminous documentation for aircraft transactions and ensuring smooth and timely closings. She also supervises real estate closings and is instrumental in forming, maintaining, reviving and dissolving corporations and limited liability companies in all 50 states. Her corporate work comprises filing entity annual reports or statements with the secretary of state; filing fictitious business name statements; updating and maintaining corporate records to meet statutory requirements; and preparing stock or membership interest issuance or transfer documentation.
Prior to joining Aerlex in 2005, Ms. Orozco-Neu gained twenty years’ experience as a paralegal in the corporate and litigation departments of several large Los Angeles law firms. Her assignments during these years included extensive transactional work; serving as lead paralegal in charge of multi-party insurance defense cases; and working on all phases of litigation in cases encompassing product liability, patent and trademark, labor, personal injury and many types of tort law. Ms. Orozco-Neu graduated in 1984 from the UCLA University Extension Attorney Assistant Training Program, offered in cooperation with the UCLA School of Law.
