Aerlex represents several of Southern California’s largest Part 135 on-demand charter operators and counsels these companies on a wide variety of issues ranging from compliance with the Federal Aviation Regulations to employment policies, tax laws and real estate negotiations. Aerlex also works closely with other charter operators in situations where the firm is representing clients whose aircraft are being managed by the charter company.
Aerlex is nationally recognized for its expertise in the field of fractional aircraft ownership and has represented clients in hundreds of transactions with all of the major national fractional and jet card providers, including NetJets, Flexjet, Flight Options, Citation Shares, Avantair, Marquis Jet and Sentient. The firm has also counseled several start-up companies seeking to enter the Subpart 91K fractional industry.
The firm’s international aviation experience has also included providing assistance to clients in securing take-off and landing rights for the use of helicopters on yachts operating in foreign waters and on foreign soil.
As a former Board member and long-time counsel to the Museum of Flying, Stephen Hofer assisted the Museum in the acquisition, sale, importation, lending and certification of many rare and exotic aircraft, including the Curtiss “Jenny,” Douglas DC-3, North American P-51 Mustang, Hawker Hurricane, Supermarine Spitfire, Russian Yak-3 and Japanese Zero.
