Stephen Hofer to Speak at Heli-Expo Seminar

Aerlex Law Group President Stephen Hofer will be one of the speakers at an educational seminar to be held on Monday, February 24, during the Helicopter Association International (HAI) Heli-Expo in Anaheim, California.  Heli-Expo, held annually, is taking place this year at the Anaheim Convention Center February 24th through 27th.

The HAI Finance & Leasing Committee is presenting the February 24th seminar, entitled “Avoiding Nightmares of a Helicopter Transaction.” The program will examine best practices for all aspects of the acquisition and sale process with an interactive role-playing program. Mr. Hofer’s presentation will focus on the legal aspects of drafting the helicopter purchase agreement and avoiding pitfalls that can derail a transaction. Other panelists participating in the progam include Mark V. Clancy of HelicopterBuyer, Inc., Ed Eckhart of Eckhart Helicopter Sales, Jim Gardner of The James A Gardner Co., Inc., Suzanne Pruitt of AIC Title Service, LLC, Deann Shier of Corporate Helicopters of San Diego, and Mark A. Vincenzini of Calstar.

Commenting on the Heli-Expo program, Mr. Hofer said, “I am incredibly fortunate that we have such a super team of attorneys and support personnel at Aerlex that the transactions we manage always go well, but I have heard of or seen a few unfortunate situations over the years that could have been avoided with more thoughtful planning. I also have reached out to a few colleagues in the industry who have shared a few ‘war stories’ that should enliven the presentation.”

Heli-Expo is the world’s largest helicopter exhibition and trade show and is expected to draw over 20,000 attendees from more than 90 countries. Nearly 750 companies will exhibit, and 60 helicopters will be on display in the convention hall. HAI estimates that $3 billion in business will be conducted during the event. In addition, a full range of professional education programs will be offered, including courses in safety, pilot proficiency, maintenance, management and career development, as well as workshops, forums and special events highlighting current trends in the industry.
