Aerlex-U.S. Trust Webinar Focuses on Aircraft “Deal”
“The Art of the Aviation Deal” was the intriguing title and topic of a webinar that Stephen Hofer, President of the Aerlex Law Group, and James Dickerson, Managing Director of Global Corporate Aircraft Finance with Banc of America Leasing & Capital, presented to U.S. Trust Private Wealth Managers throughout the Western United States on November 7th. Joann Anderson, Senior Vice-President at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Wealth Management, arranged the broadcast. The goal of the one-hour webinar was to acquaint wealth managers in a seven-state Western region with the many complexities involved in whole aircraft acquisitions. Hofer and Dickerson guided their audience through each step of the transaction, from defining the flight mission and identifying the appropriate aircraft to closing and delivery. They stressed the importance of selecting the right team of experts early on in the process. They also addressed the intricate interplay of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and regulatory issues, the contractual process, financing options, aircraft management, registration and always crucial tax issues. “Bank of America and U.S. Trust have partnered with Aerlex on several occasions in recent years to present seminars intended to enlighten consumers about aircraft transactions,” said Hofer, “and so when Jim Dickerson and Joann Anderson approached me about participating in this webinar, I was enthused about the opportunity to help educate private wealth managers about the ‘art’ of structuring a successful aircraft acquisition. “Listener reaction to the program was uniformly enthusiastic and positive,” Hofer reported, “and I am pleased Aerlex was able to take a leadership role in expanding knowledge and promoting greater awareness. An informed private wealth manager can play an important early role in spotting issues, recruiting experts and gathering the resources needed to support his or her client. Aerlex is always ready to assist wealth managers in meeting their customer’s private aviation needs.” |
