COVID-19 Forces Cancellation of IADA Annual Meeting

The International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA) announced the cancellation of its 2020 IADA Annual Meeting, which was scheduled to take place in Dana Point, California, September 27-29.

Citing concerns about safety in the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic, IADA Chairman Paul Kirby released the following statement which both noted the cancellation of the annual convention and the plans for a one-day virtual meeting to be held on September 29, 2020 along with several other key announcements.


After months of monitoring the status of the COVID pandemic in California, and given the Board’s commitment to both the physical, and financial, health of our Association and fellow members, we have decided to cancel the IADA Annual Meeting at Monarch Beach.

While we are disappointed, as we had an exciting meeting planned and appreciating the investment all members make in the Association.

We are actively developing a “virtual” agenda for the morning of Tuesday, September 29th, 2020.

This will also fulfill the necessity of conducting an annual business meeting under the by-laws of the Association.

Erika will contact members this week who have already paid their meeting registration fees to discuss whether the payment will be reimbursed, held for a future meeting, or donated to the IADA Foundation.

In further consideration of the impacts of the pandemic to our Dealer Accreditation, Broker Certification, and continuing education efforts, the Board has implemented the following changes:

• All Broker testing will be delayed until the Spring 2021 meeting. All Dealers will have until 2021 to meet the 50% Broker testing threshold set forth in the IADA standards.

• All continuing education requirements will be delayed until 2021. We are working with our partners at Joseph Allen to develop an on-line educational resource and broker training tools that will be available later this year and that will provide the basis for IADA’s future continuing education efforts.

• Based on Dealer feedback and the impossibility of our international members obtaining coverage, the Board has removed the requirement for Dealers to obtain E&O insurance. The Board continues to believe that E&O insurance is an industry best-practice and market differentiator; however, it is no longer a requirement of Accreditation.
